The Mount Without | Alternative and Luxury Wedding Venue set in the heart of Bristol

Rach and Joss were one of the first couples to get hitched at the incredible ‘The Mount Without’ in Bristol back in July 2021. The Mount Without is a luxury and alternative wedding venue set in the heart of Bristol - and one of the most breath-taking and incredible venues in the UK. After being partially destroyed in a fire back in 2016 (with a rich history) it was purchased in 2019 to be restored and used as an events space and Bristol’s newest wedding venue. Being the first wedding photographer to shoot at this incredibly beautiful venue was such an honour and I am forever grateful for Rach and Joss for choosing me to capture their day. I’m also delighted to say I am also on The Mount Without recommended supplier list as a local Bristol Wedding Photographer.

I can’t wait to be back at The Mount Without later this year as it’s truly become a firm favourite of mine. Not only because it’s in my home town of Bristol, but because it shows how something so normally ‘traditional’ can be so wonderfully alternative at the same time. Not to mention they have the friendliest team working behind the scene’s (Michelle runs such a tight knit team here and you’re sure to be looked after) and the tastiest, most relaxed food atmosphere I think I’ve ever seen at a wedding - it’s honestly just such a dream venue and if you’re considering getting married in Bristol, one you should be looking at for sure. Speaking of, if you’re looking to host your wedding at The Mount Without and are looking for an authentic and modern story telling photographer, do drop me a message and I’d be delighted to talk through your plans with you.

THE LOOK

Rach opt’d for modern elegance in her Half Penny London Cheryl dress paired with the floaty Campange cape, purchased through the independent dress boutique - Waxflower Bridal. With accessories from Blue meadow and her fresh floral crown made by local florist Petal Emporium, the look was finished by her hair and makeup team, the incredibly talented Rose Forrest and Emily Williams. Rach’s look was not only classic, paired back modern bride but managed to showcase how you can add alternative elements to a more ‘traditional’ base to make your chosen look perfectly your own. I’m not sure if it’s how the whole look comes together as a whole or if it’s Rach’s joyful smile, but this was one of my favourite looks of 2021 for sure.

“We just wanted to say such a huge thank you for our beautiful photos. We love them so much. They so brilliantly capture our whole day and we particularly have loved seeing all the photos you took of our guests - it meant that we got to see all of the things we didn’t see which has been such a gift. These are our favourites!” - Emma & Rich

Back in February 2020 was when Rich and Emma originally contacted me and their wedding plans looked a little different before the world fell into a pit and life as we knew it changed. Things happened and plans changed (not too far from the original vision of a Church wedding but far from a college school hall reception) and a cheeky little email popped up in my inbox late Sept 2021 asking if I was still free to capture their celebration that October. I think fate worked it’s magic as it happened to be only one of two weekend dates I still had free for that month So we got chatting again, confirmed the details and the rest as they say - is history. As mentioned earlier, their plans did change a little and it meant we were now working with a slightly more ‘London’ esque day and you all know I’m a sucker for a London wedding, there’s just something about the cosmopolitan chaos that calls to my heart - the endless backdrops, the random passer-by’s congratulating the couple on their nuptials - it feels like home to me and yet it’s a far cry from the London culture we’ve all adapted to.

THE LOOK

I honestly loved everything about Emma and Rich’s day. It had such a paired back, relaxed yet super stylish and chic look to it all. Emma looked incredddddddible in her Charlie Brear silk dress (she did have a second dress but we all agreed this one suited her to a tee so she decided to rock it all day) perfectly paired with a soft ‘undone’ curl and makeup she did herself which seems to be a trend I’m really noticing more and more since covid happened and I’m here for it. What’s not to love about being able to top up whenever you need to?! The whole day just had this indescribable vibe about it and you could really tell how happy everyone was that they got to celebrate with Rich and Emma. They may have exchanged their vows earlier that year but this blessing and celebration was utterly perfect and I couldn’t be happier they thought of me to capture it for them after the original plans didn’t go ahead.
